I started sculpting this recently. Right now it's just looking like a blob. Mainly figuring out the flow of mechanical plates and shape and not worrying too much about small detail and polish yet. I'll create the individual plates, polish and detail afterwards so they can overlap and actually look like a working robot or mech suit. Barely touched the legs and arms yet. Lots of work ahead for this one.

WIP Robot Thing

oh hell yeah. Nice. I need to get into gear on the tutorials. So, roughly, how long did it take for you to get to this point? I think my main problem is the fear of just jumping in and sculpting. Anyway, looking good. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteIt was about 5-6 hours of sculpting to get to this. I'm trying to concept it directly in Zbrush instead of drawing it first. Unlike other 3D programs like Max, it's not as important to have a clear direction because changes can be made so quickly.
